Case Management and Advocacy

group of womenThe Arc's Case Management and Advocacy Program provide information and referral services and daily direct living support to individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities and their families. The program strives to meet the evolving needs and supports that an individual and their family may need during the many transitions they will encounter throughout life. The program continues to provide support for each individual and their family after they leave the school system.

Once a young adult transitions from the educational system, he or she will be faced with an adult service system that is often very difficult to access. Case advocates work closely with families to help them navigate the service eligibility process and to make sure they access any public service for which they qualify and that would help their individual circumstance. In addition, case advocates provide crisis intervention, counseling, problem resolutions, money management services, public advocacy, and drop-in supports as necessary to help individuals with disabilities achieve and maintain independent lives. A component of this program is the Friend to Friend Program which matches volunteers with people who have cognitive disabilities to provide friendship and socializing opportunities.
